Chances are slim for a hurricane to develop off the Myrtle Beach coast Wednesday morning.

There was a 10% chance of a cyclone formation as of Tuesday, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami which works for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Today, the chance of cyclone formation is down to 0% in seven days, per the NHC.

The NHC is monitoring a cluster of thunderstorms in the western Atlantic and northern Bahamas, NHC Public Affairs Officer Maria Torres said in an email.

The chance for a cyclone forming is unlikely because the low air pressure necessary to form a cyclone will probably not develop in the next 48 hours or week, Torres added.

There will be a chance for significant and “much-needed” two to three inches of rain on Wednesday and Thursday, Meteorologist Tim Armstrong with the National Weather Service in Wilmington said.

The early half of the week will have temperatures in the high 60‘s and low 80’s along the coast, while Conway may reach up to the low 90’s, Armstrong added.

There is a low chance of hurricane formation in the Myrtle Beach area, but it is still vital to stay prepared, Armstrong said.
