Tropical storm Ian is likely to regain hurricane strength before hitting South Carolina, prompting a hurricane warning for Horry County, according to the National Weather Service.

The county will start experiencing unrelated wind gusts Thursday night that will increase Friday due to Ian, meteorologist in Wilmington, North Carolina predict

Horry County could see wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour Friday.

Areas with the strongest winds may see downed trees and branches, along with power outages, according to the forecast.

The storm has exited eastern Florida and will reach the southern coast Friday, according to NWS.
