Heavy rain hit the Myrtle Beach area this week, but it may clear up for the weekend.

There should not be any more severe storms the rest of the week according to The National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Tuesday and Wednesday have a 40 percent chance of rain and a slight chance of severe weather on Friday, NWS Meteorologist Matt Scalora said.

There is a slight chance for a lingering shower on Saturday, but Sunday will be dry, Scalora added.

The entire week will have temperatures around the low to mid-80s, Scarola said.

There will be an update to the drought outlook for the Myrtle Beach area after North Myrtle Beach got one-third of an inch of rain, Scalora said.

Other places in the Area such as Conway, Surfside Beach, Myrtle Beach and Murrells inlet got around two to four inches of rain depending on the area, according to the Rain Drop app.

Myrtle Beach has needed the rain, Myrtle Beach Director of Communications Meredith Denari said.

The city has the infrastructure to deal with excess rain in streets, draining the roads fully may take a while, Denari said.

A Facebook video shows a group of people wading through flooded streets in Ocean Lakes Family Campground in two electric golf carts.

The video showed a lifted Hummer truck’s tires almost fully submerged on a street closer to the sand dunes.

Ocean Lakes is located in the unincorporated area of Horry County.

Georgetown County received a flood warning at 11:47 p.m. May 27 that lasted until early the next morning, but Horry County should not get anything so severe this week, Scalora concluded.
