Wintery storm causing closings, cancellations in Horry County. Here’s what to know
A winter storm has brought several inches of snow and extreme cold temperatures across Horry County.
The National Weather Service reports that between 3 to 7 inches have fallen overnight Saturday. The area is under a winter weather storm warning and extreme cold advisor that is expected to last through Monday morning. The area will see cold temperatures in the single digits because of wind chills Sunday night into Monday, the NWS reports.
Because of the weather, some government agencies and organizations have announced closures.
Conway Medical Center offices to close

Conway Medical Center offices will be closed Monday because of inclement weather, it announced Sunday on its Facebook page.
All procedures will also be cancelled, according to CMC.
Horry County college to close

Horry-Georgetown Technical College will conduct online instruction and remote work on Monday because of possible hazardous road conditions, the college announced on its Facebook page.
The college campus will be closed.
Faculty, staff, and students will not report for in-person academic activities, including classes, clinical and clinical rotations, internships and preceptorships, federal work-study positions, or any other in-person activities on Monday, the college said.
Grand Strand Medical Center locations to close

Grand Strand Medical Center announced that outpatient locations will be closed and all non-emergency surgeries scheduled for Monday are cancelled because of the weather.
Grand Strand Medical Center, South Strand Medical Center, North Strand ER and Carolina Forest ER will remain open.
Horry County offices closed

Horry County government offices and facilities will be closed Monday because of the winter weather.
The material recycling facility will be closed Monday. The landfill will open at noon, but it is dependent on conditions, the county posted on Facebook. Recycling and convenience centers operations will be dependent on their conditions. Horry County Parks & Recreation and Horry County Memorial Library programs will be canceled Monday.
Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing closed

Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach and Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach will be closed Sunday because of the winter weather, the open air shopping center announced Saturday.
The locations, which have stores, restaurants and entertainment attractions, closed early Saturday ahead of the winter storm that hit the Grand Strand overnight.
Horry County schools closed

Horry County Schools will have an eLearning day on Monday. Schools will be closed.
All extracurricular activities, including athletics and other events planned for Sunday and Monday will be cancelled, the district posted on its Facebook page.
The district will make a decision about Tuesday’s school operations on Monday afternoon, the district said.
North Myrtle Beach offices closed

The City of North Myrtle Beach offices will be closed Monday because of the winter storm.
Sanitation collection will not operate on Monday. Pick-up will resume once road conditions are clear and City Hall reopens, according to a Facebook post.
Myrtle Beach garbage pickup changed

The City of Myrtle Beach has announced changes to its solid waste and recycling pickup because of the winter storm.
There will be no solid waste or recycling pickup on Monday, the city posted on its Facebook page. Because of weather conditions, all routes will shift back one day next week.
Regular Monday pickup will occur Tuesday; regular Tuesday pickup will be Wednesday; Wednesday’s pickup will be Thursday; and Thursday’s pickup will occur Friday.
Solid waste and recycling service will run Tuesday through Friday instead of the normal Monday through Thursday schedule.
Conway city offices closed

City of Conway offices and facilities will be closed Sunday through Monday, according to a city Facebook post.
Conway City Council meeting scheduled for Monday is cancelled. Conway Parks and Recreation Center and all related activities will be closed Sunday through Monday.
