Will the Grand Strand be having a White Chritsmas this year?

According to the National Weather Service out of Wilmington, NC, the answer is no.

People waking up in Myrtle Beach on the morning of Christmas Eve woke up to gray skies with cold rain and temperatures in the low 40s.

The NWS said the skies are expected to clear just in time for Santa to descend into the Myrtle Beach region on Christmas Eve.

On Christmas Day, the area is expected to have warmer temperatures in the low 50s and sunny skies, the forecast said as of Tuesday morning.

Marine Hazards will continue through Wednesday offshore in the Atlantic Ocean due to ongoing winds, according to the forecast.

The last time it snowed in Myrtle Beach, SC was in January 2022, the NWS’s Myrtle Beach Snowfall database shows.

That same database showed that the last snow near Christmas Day in the Grand Strand was in 2010, with a recorded snowfall of half an inch the day after Christmas on Dec. 26.
