Where is Tropical Storm Idalia this AM and what was the damage in the Myrtle Beach area?

It was a long and rainy day in the Grand Strand but the major damage in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Idalia is being felt in the Cherry Grove area.

A home was damaged by what appears to be at least one possible tornado spun up from the stop late Wednesday evening. A home with one occupant inside lost its roof and had to be relocated. There was other cosmetic damage in that neighborhood and some missing and damaged docks.

As of the 5 a.m. update from the National Hurricane Center the eye of the storm is off the coast of Myrtle Beach and the southern part of North Carolina. The storm continues its track out to sea at 21 mph with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph.

There was also possible tornado damage on Pawleys Island. The National Weather Service will investigate the potential tornadoes to confirm them.

The Santee Cooper outage map is reporting 9 outages and fewer than 100 people impacted Thursday morning.

Horry County Fire Rescue reported responding to several calls related to vehicles stuck in flooded roadways and downed trees across roads Wednesday evening.

Horry County Police are also reporting a number of hazards in roads, including fallen trees, structural debris and flooded cars.

Some roads in Myrtle Beach are barricaded Thursday morning because of flooding. Myrtle Beach Police are asking drivers not to drive around the barricades.
