Locals and spring break visitors to Myrtle Beach area may get a little wet later this week.

Rain showers and storms are possible Thursday and throughout the day on Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. Rain totals could be near one inch.

There is a 75% to 80% chance of rain Saturday and Sunday and temperatures will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s, according to the weather service. Winds are predicted to be gusty.

But Wednesday is expected to be mostly sunny.

A marine dense fog advisory was issued earlier this morning in Horry County, but the fog is expected to fade out by late morning. But sea fog may linger, according to the forecast.

The advisory is in effect until noon, according to a Twitter post from NWS.

The high temperature for Wednesday and Thursday will be in the low to mid-80s, and the high for Friday will range from mid-60s to 70s, meteorologists predicted.

They said there could possibly be small craft advisories Friday afternoon.

Despite the weather forecast, the city of Myrtle Beach still plans to host its Spring Fest on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. unless showers are heavy.

It will be in the large field next to Crabtree Memorial Gym located at 1004 Crabtree Lane, according to a Wednesday Facebook post.

The Myrtle Beach Shrine Club has decided to postpone Smoke on the Beach. The BBQ fest was supposed to start Friday.

New dates for the event have not been released.
