Tornado warning and watch for Horry expires, impacts from weather still felt in Conway

A tornado watch and a tornado warning from the afternoon have been canceled, after a severe thunderstorm was located north outside of Conway.

The thunderstorm, capable of producing a tornado, was moving northeast at 35 mph about 8 miles north of Conway, according to the national weather service.

A forecast for tonight says that showers showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 7 p.m. is likely.

Danny Bagsley, a Conway resident saw the severe weather take down a barn on his family property along Juniper Bay Road.

It’s unclear how much damage the severe weather brought to the area. However, the National Weather Service will be conducting a survey tomorrow.

In the event of a tornado watch, the National Weather Service recommends moving to a basement, or the lowest floor of a sturdy building and avoiding windows. If you are outdoors, move to the closest shelter and protect yourself from debris.
