Subtropical storm Nicole to bring heavy rain, gusty winds to the Carolinas later this week

Some impacts are expected across northeast SC and southeast NC as Subtropical storm Nicole moves into the Carolinas later this week, according to the National Weather Service.

Impacts include heavy rainfall, gusty winds, isolated tornadoes, and some coastal flooding, a Tuesday weather briefing said.

The storm is expected to bring impacts to northeast SC starting Thursday evening into Friday, and move towards Delmarva by Saturday morning.

Potential storm total rainfall of 2 to 4 inches is expected, with the highest amounts along the coast.

According to a forecast track, Subtropical Storm Nicole is expected to bring hurricane conditions and a dangerous storm surge to the northwestern Bahamas on Wednesday, and Tropical storm conditions are expected in Florida and Georgia as well.

There is a marginal risk for isolated tornadoes in northeast SC Thursday evening into Friday.

Nicole would move rapidly through the area, limiting the duration for any impacts, the National Weather Service said. Residents are encouraged to closely monitor this developing weather situation.
