Tropical storm Ian could bring heavy rain and tornadoes to the Carolinas, according to the National Weather Service.

Ian’s track could also cause coastal flooding and strong winds, meteorologists in Wilmington, N.C., predict.

The storm is in the Caribbean Sea south of Jamaica and is expected to move near the Florida peninsula on Thursday.
