Waterspout spotted in Little River area after warning issued by NWS
A photo taken Saturday near Little River, shortly after the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Horry County, shows what appeared to be a tornado or waterspout.
A meteorologist confirmed Monday that it was a waterspout that never touched land.
In a Twitter post Saturday, the weather service said Little River and two North Carolina cities could be affected until 12:15 p.m. The warning was not renewed.
There were also reports of a waterspout in the Pawleys Island area earlier this morning.
Facebook user Betsy Bailey posted a video of the vortex Saturday morning.
