Hurricane season’s peak has arrived. The majority of storms — and the biggest ones — are likely to appear in the next four weeks, between the last week of August and the third week of September, history shows.

That doesn’t mean it’s too late to prepare for the storm. It’s been several years since South Carolina has seen a Big One, which means it’s time to be extra cautious.

We want to share advice from readers to help residents — both natives and newcomers — and tourists prepare for the storm.

What’s the weirdest item you always have on hand in case of hurricanes? What do you never leave home without that you think no one else would think of? What do you stock up on in your secret storm closet?

Please fill out the form below to share your thoughts, advice for storm prepping and the weirdest item you always have on hand during hurricane season. We’ll share the responses Aug. 29.
