Attendees of Carolina Country Music Festival have been asked to leave the event and seek shelter due to severe weather in Myrtle Beach.

Lightning was spotted within 6 miles of the Burroughs & Chapin Pavilion Place, where the stages are set up, according to a Facebook post from the festival’s page.

“We are advising everyone to seek shelter immediately,” the post stated. “We will continue to monitor the weather closely and will open the festival grounds backup as soon as possible.”

Organizers asked concertgoers to check social media and the CCMF app for updates.

The Myrtle Beach Fire Department also posted a message to Facebook urging people to seek shelter following the lightning.
