Forecast: Precipitation has ended, but cold temperatures could lead to refreezing

Cold temperatures are expected for the weekend, which could cause refreezing in parts of Horry County, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, N.C.

The season’s coldest temperatures will be Saturday night with lows in the 20s and the teens in some places, meteorologists said in a weather briefing. It will be in the mid to upper 30s during the Saturday.

Icy conditions are expected to persist through Saturday, even after precipitation has ended. NWS warn roads and bridges will be hazardous.

Sunday will be warmer with temperatures in the mid 40s, according to the weather service.

Some places will see highs in the 50s on Monday.

Electric company Santee Cooper has reported multiple outages in the Myrtle Beach area. There are over 200 customers affected as of Saturday afternoon, according to the utility’s online outage tracker. Services are expected to be restored by 6 p.m.
