Tropical system could develop near Carolinas. Here’s what that means for Myrtle Beach

The Myrtle Beach area is expected to see rainfall and thunderstorms during the next several days as a tropical system could develop around the Carolinas, forecasters say.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington, North Carolina predicts the Myrtle Beach area could see up to one inch of rain through Friday, and inland areas of Horry County could see up to 1 and a half inches.

There is a 70 percent chance the low pressure could develop into a subtropical or tropical system over the next few days as it moves toward the Outer Banks and coastal mid-Atlantic states, the NWS Wilmington reports.

The weather service warns of a moderate risk of rip currents through Saturday.

High temperatures through the rest of the week are expected to be in the upper 80s, with lows around the mid 70s.
