A Beaufort and Burton man are in custody after Beaufort Police found a victim with a gunshot wound to the head alive and conscious late Monday night.
The victim was alert when police arrived at his residence in the 2800 block of Second Street around 11:30 p.m., according to a Beaufort Police Department news release.
The victim was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, the release said.
Witnesses told police more than one suspect drove to the residence and began shooting at the victim. The suspects then kicked the victim on the ground before they fled in a green vehicle.

A vehicle matching that description was later located with Marcus, 39, and Michael Singleton, 36, inside along with two juveniles, the release said.
During the investigation, police determined Michael Singleton, of Burton, was the alleged shooter.
The Singletons were each charged with attempted murder and taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center where they are both being held on bonds of $100,000. Their relationship was unclear, according to Beaufort Police spokeswoman Officer Hope Able. The two juveniles were released to their parents, the release said.
