A Beaufort man has been named as the victim of a motorcycle and SUV collision that happened Thursday evening on Trask Parkway.

Leon Robert Meadows, 35, of Beaufort died after the 2006 Suzuki motorcycle he was driving was involved in the crash around 6:07 p.m., according to David Ott, deputy Beaufort County Coroner.

Lance Cpl. Matthew Southern of the S.C. Highway Patrol said the Meadows was headed southbound on the parkway when a 2001 Ford Escape driven by Marsha Lehr, 68, of Beaufort, attempted to make a left turn from a northbound lane.

The motorcycle then struck Lehr's vehicle, Southern said. Meadows was wearing a helmet. Lehr was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, Southern said.

Meadows was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital, where he later died, Southern said.

No charges have yet been filed, Southern said.
