The driver of a 1992 Ford pickup was killed Tuesday shortly after 11 a.m. in a 3-vehicle collision on Interstate 26 eastbound near the Piney Grove exit.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, all three vehicles were on the eastbound side of the interstate when the driver of the 1992 Ford pickup ran into the back of a 2013 Ford truck and then side-swipped a 2015 Chevy SUV.

After the Chevy SUV was struck, the 1992 Ford pickup overturned several times. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle, trooper David Jones said. The driver, who has not been identified, was declared dead on the scene, Jones said.

Neither driver of the other vehicles was injured, Jones said.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
