A Richland County deputy is facing criminal domestic violence and burglary charges.
Sharmeen Crandell, 41, has been charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature as well as second-degree burglary, according to the Columbia police.
The victim told the officer that Crandell broke into his apartment and assaulted him, according to a police incident report.
Crandell turned herself in to police at about 10 p.m. Sunday, sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Curtis Wilson said. She is suspended without pay, Wilson said.

Crandell started with the sheriff’s department in October 2014, Wilson said.
