A grandson who allegedly killed his grandparent’s kitten by cutting it turned himself into law enforcement.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department was notified that a kitten was found dead in a yard on the 200 block of Hemphill Road near Kilbourne Road March 11.

An anonymous tip that came into Crimestoppers indicated Matthew Harper, 18, killed the kitten while his grandparent was out of town. Deputies believe Harper killed the 6-month-old kitten by cutting it in the upper body.

Deputies arrested Harper Tuesday after he turned himself in to investigators.

Deputies transported Harper to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
