Vacationers sprayed with shaving cream on Hilton Head beach

Three friends on vacation reported being the victims of a close shaving cream assault Thursday night on Hilton Head Island.

One of the victims told Beaufort County deputies he and two friends were walking on the beach near the Marriott Grande Ocean Resport on Forest Beach Drive around 9:30 p.m. when someone pushed him down from behind, according to the Sheriff’s Office report.

The man said he initially thought one of his friends had pushed him until he was sprayed with shaving cream by at least five individuals. His friends were also pushed to the ground and sprayed, the report said.

He chased the group, but lost them near Coligny Beach, the report said.

The man and his friends were unable to provide a description of the aspiring barber assailants but did find two others on the beach who also said they’d been sprayed, the report said.
