Student charged in case involving nude photo of SC teacher

A 16-year-old student has been charged in a nude photo scandal that led to the resignation of a Union County High School teacher last week.

The juvenile is charged with a computer crime and aggravated voyeurism.

Leigh Anne Arthur, 33, was asked to resign after a student found a nude photo of her on her cellphone, took a picture of it using another phone and circulated it among fellow students.

School officials have said Arthur should not have stepped out of her classroom and left her cellphone unattended.

The State Law Enforcement Division investigated the case at the request of the Union Public Safety Department, which sent the student’s cellphone to Columbia to be tested by investigators, said Thom Berry, a SLED spokesman.

The student has been taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.
