Report: SC father held 8-year-old son over balcony
A Fort Mill man was charged with cruelty to children after he held his 8-year-old son over the second-floor balcony of his home, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.
Philippe Dominique Segard, 44, of Palmetto Place in Fort Mill, was charged with cruelty to children and placed in the York County Detention Center. He was released Wednesday afternoon under $500 bond, according to jail records.
A sheriff’s office spokesman said Segard turned himself in on warrants.
The incident happened Sept. 13, 2015, according to a sheriff’s report. Deputies received a case referral from the Department of Social Services alleging that Segard had picked his son up and “held him over the second-story balcony” at his home.
The report doesn’t indicate with whom the child is living.
Segard has no criminal history in South Carolina, according to State Law Enforcement Division records.
