Traffic violation lands man in jail for what deputies found in car, SC cops say

A South Carolina man is in jail following a recent traffic stop, according to the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Reggie Anderson, a 49-year-old Vance resident, isn’t locked up for the traffic violation, but instead for the drugs and guns that deputies found inside the vehicle he was driving when they pulled him over Saturday, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

At about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, deputies patrolling the Vance area stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation, according to the release. Information about the traffic violation was not available, and there was no word about why the deputies searched the vehicle.

During the search, deputies found a bag containing illegal narcotics and two guns, the sheriff’s office said.

Anderson was charged with:

  • Trafficking fentanyl
  • Trafficking cocaine
  • Trafficking ecstasy
  • Trafficking methamphetamine
  • Trafficking heroin
  • Possession with intent to distribute marijuana
  • Distribution of cocaine
  • Two counts of possession of a weapon or ammunition by a person convicted
  • Possession with intent to distribute or trafficking a controlled substance
  • Nine counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime

Anderson was denied bond, according to the release.

“Any drug users expecting their mobile pharmacy’s home visit were disappointed,” Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said in the release. “We found a wide variety of illegal drugs during this stop.”
