Two shooting victims were found in car and one has died, South Carolina cops say
A search is underway in South Carolina for a gunman after two men who had been shot were found inside a vehicle, with one of them later dying, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
Rashaun Brinkley, a 30-year-old Lexington resident, is the man who died, Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables said Tuesday.
The shooting happened just before noon Monday, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. A person called emergency services saying they had been shot, according to the release.
The caller said the shooting happened in the area near Rawls Mill Pond Road and Old Ninety Six Indian Trail, the sheriff’s office said. That’s in the Wagener area of Aiken County, about 7 miles from Exit 33 on I-20.
Deputies found two men inside a vehicle and discovered that both had been shot, according to the release. Both victims were taken to an area hospital, the sheriff’s office said.
At 1:25 p.m. Monday, Brinkley died from the injuries he suffered in the shooting while being treated at Lexington Medical Center, according to the coroner’s office.
