A Lowcounty woman is hundreds of thousands of dollars richer after her husband stuffed a $5 scratch-off ticket inside her Christmas stocking, according to the South Carolina Education Lottery.

The woman, who played a Carolina Jackpot ticket, won the top prize of $200,000 from a ticket her husband purchased at a BP Gas Station in Summervile, lottery officials reported Friday.

“I was in shock,” the wife told South Carolina Education Lottery officials, according to a news release.

The odds of winning $200,000 in the Carolina Jackpot game are 1 in 520,000, the release said.

The couple — who remains unidentified — said they plan to pay off their house with the winnings.

For selling the claimed ticket, the BP Gas station received a $2,000, according to the release.
