Man found riddled with bullets inside vehicle dies at hospital, SC sheriff says
A man was shot and killed in South Carolina over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
The shooting happened Nov. 27, the sheriff’s department said Monday in a news release.
Perry Richardson, a 65-year-old Columbia resident was the victim, Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford said Tuesday.
At about 7:45 p.m. last Saturday, deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 5300 block of Fairfield Road, according to the release. That’s near a convenience store and a Family Dollar in a part of Columbia near North Main Street.
Deputies found a man inside a vehicle, the sheriff’s department said. The man had been shot multiple times, according to the release.
The victim was taken to an area hospital where he died from the injuries he suffered in the shooting, the sheriff’s department said.
No other injuries were reported.
Information about the shooter, or shooters, and how many people were involved, was not available, and there was no word on a motive for the gunfire.
No arrests have been reported, but the shooting continues to be investigated by the sheriff’s department.
