Woman was shot in parking lot of Food Lion in South Carolina, police say

There was a shooting in the parking lot of a Food Lion grocery store in South Carolina Saturday night, according to the Irmo Police Department.

A woman was hospitalized following the shooting, a spokeswoman for the police department told The State Sunday. The victim’s injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to police. Further information on the victim’s condition was not available.

The victim accidentally shot herself, police said.

She was inside a car parked at the Food Lion supermarket at 6021 St. Andrews Road in Columbia, according to police. That’s in the area between Harbison Boulevard and I-26.

The woman was transferring the gun when it accidentally went off, police said.

No other injuries were reported.

The victim is not facing any charges at this time, according to police.
