Search ends for US Postal worker who was missing after ending route, SC cops say

A search for a missing South Carolina man who was feared to be in danger has ended.

Kyle Michael Poppiti was located the Chapin Police Department said Monday at 9 p.m. Information about the 23-year-old’s condition, or where and when he was located, was not available.

Messages left with police were not immediately returned.

Poppiti was publicly reported missing by police Sunday afternoon. He had not been seen since Saturday, police said in a news release.

Poppiti was last seen after he completed his delivery route for the U.S. Post Office at 1249 Chapin Road, according to the release. That’s in the Chapin area of Lexington County, near Exit 91 on Interstate 26.

Poppiti didn’t return home and had not been in contact with his family, police said.

There was no word if Poppiti was alone when he was last seen.

Police did not say if foul play was suspected in Poppiti’s disappearance, but reported that he was considered “at risk and may be a danger to himself.”

During the search, his phone was pinged in the Winnsboro, South Carolina, area early Sunday morning, according to the release. That’s about 30 miles from the post office where Poppiti was last seen.
