One person died and 2 others were injured after a Sumter County crash, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

A 2023 Toyota SUV was driving north on Boot Branch Road on July 28 just before 3:30 p.m., Master Trooper William Bennett said. That’s about 12 miles east of the city of Sumter. A 2020 Lexus SUV was driving west on U.S. Highway 378 when the Lexus hit the Toyota at the intersection.

The driver and the passenger of the Lexus were transported to a local hospital for their injuries.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to Prisma Health Richland Hospital for their injuries, and they died on Friday. The Sumter County Coroner has not publicly identified them.

The SC Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.
