SC has one of the best road trips in the US, new ranking shows. Here’s where and why

If you’re planning a weekend trip in South Carolina this summer, check out this road trip route from Myrtle Beach to Aiken, named a top road trip in the United States.

A Florida dealership surveyed 3,000 road trippers and found that this route on U.S. 501 and Interstate 20 was the 36th favorite, in a list of 100.

Starting in Myrtle Beach’s Grand Strand sands, drive through the S.C. countryside to Florence where you can taste pecan-filled dishes on the S.C. Pecan Trail, a group of local restaurants highlighting the favorite nut.

Continue your weekend journey to Columbia, where you can check out its over 150 year old state house and vibrant food scene. The final leg of your trip leads you to Aiken’s historic downtown and equestrian culture.
