SC has one of the top 10 summer destinations in the US for 2023, Tripadvisor says. Here’s why
Myrtle Beach is the second most searched summer destination in the country, according to a May 2023 analysis by travel website Tripadvisor.
The announcement came in Tripadvisor’s summer 2023 Seasonal Travel Index, which tallied the number of searches for travel between May 29 and August 31, 2023.
In the article, Tripadvisor touted Myrtle Beach’s many ocean-front resorts, namely Marriott Myrtle Beach Resort & Spa at Grande Dunes, which in 2022 was named one of the 10 best resorts in South Carolina by Travel + Leisure.
Tripadvisor also suggested travelers check out activities such as surf lessons and boat tours on the Waccamaw River.
Sea Captain’s House, another attraction featured in the article, was named the restaurant with the best views in South Carolina, according to an analysis of Tripadvisor reviews.
The president of the Myrtle Beach Area Convention and Visitor Bureau, Karen Riordan, said in a written statement, “We’re very pleased but not surprised. As TripAdvisor users know, there’s no better summer beach vacation than one held along the Grand Strand’s 60 miles of coastline from Little River to Pawleys Island. This is why ... we work so diligently to promote the destination year-round.”
Myrtle Beach has been making waves in the tourism industry. The city was one of Tripadvisor’s top trending winter destinations in 2022.
This April, the Myrtle Beach International Airport welcomed a record number of passengers, more than 294,000 passengers – a 4% increase from last year – with six new gates planned to open in 2025.
