If you want to buy a house with an ocean view, you will have to pay a premium anywhere in the U.S.

But three South Carolina cities have some of the lowest average beach-view property prices in the nation, according to an analysis by vacation rental company Casago.

Georgetown, Surfside Beach and Myrtle Beach were three of the five most affordable cities for beachfront properties in the United States.

In South Carolina, the city with the highest average price for oceanfront houses is Folly Beach, where a typical beach house would set you back $1.2 million, compared to the most affordable in Georgetown, which runs $200,000.

Casago calculated the midpoint (mean average) price of ocean view properties using Zillow listings from around the country.

Here are the least expensive cities for beach-view properties, with median cost:

  1. Atlantic City, NJ: $130,000

  2. Hampton, VA: $185,000

  3. Georgetown, SC: $200,000

  4. Surfside Beach, SC: $218,000

  5. Myrtle Beach, SC: $220,000

  2. Montecito, CA: $6 million

  3. Del Monte Forest, CA: $6 million

  4. Malibu, CA: $5 million
