Ready for beaver nuggets? What to know about the Buc-ee’s opening in SC next week
After 18 months of waiting, South Carolina’s first Buc-ee’s gas station is finally almost here.
The gas station opens this coming Monday, May 16. We’ve got all the details about the grand opening for you gas station fanatics who want to compare Buc-ee’s to Wawa, Sheetz and anywhere else — and everything Texas transplants need to know about getting to visit and buy a slice of home.
“Florence is a beautiful city and happens to be the midpoint for an ultimate East Coast road trip: New York City to Miami,” Buc-ee’s spokesman Stan Beard said in a statement. “We’re excited to finally be welcoming travelers and locals alike to Buc-ee’s Florence and looking forward to being part of this gracious community for a long time.”
Where is it located?
The new Buc-ee’s travel center is located at 3390 North Williston Road in Florence on the northeast corner of Interstate 95 and North Williston Road.
What time does it open?
Doors open to the public at 6 a.m. After that, it will be open 24/7. Yes, we’re saying that once this Buc-ee’s opens, it will never close. (Unless, for some horrific reason, it were to close permanently.)
Can I buy gas, food, everything on the first day?
Yes! All the things you can imagine to buy at Buc-ee’s will be available from day one, beaver-themed merchandise and all. Oh, and while you’re inside, don’t forget to check out those “award-winning” restrooms.
What to know about the grand opening
Buc-ee’s will have a big ribbon-cutting celebration at 10 a.m. Monday. A whole cast of South Carolina leaders will be there, including Gov. Henry McMaster, Florence County Council members and Florence Mayor Teresa Myers Ervin.
What Texas-inspired food will Buc-ee’s sell?
Buc-ee’s will have Texas barbecue, including the state’s famous beef brisket. There will also be plenty of kolaches, a staple of Central Texas’ German heritage, along with breakfast tacos, the most beloved food for any morning in Austin, the state’s capital.
Anything else?
The Buc-ee’s in Florence is more than 53,000 square feet and will have 120 fueling stations. It will have thousands of snack, meal and drink options, many of them ready to grab and go and plenty others made fresh on the spot.
Looking for a job? Buc-ee’s is hiring 175 full-time jobs for its Florence location. The company said starting pay is “well above minimum wage,” and the jobs include full benefits, 6% matching 401k and three weeks of paid vacation time.
