‘Multiple fires’ set at South Carolina church are under FBI investigation, reports say

Someone set several fires inside a church building in Andrews, South Carolina, on the Sunday before Christmas, the church said.

“We were devastated to find out early Sunday morning that someone broke in our executive center and set multiple fires throughout the building,” the Spirit Filled Ambassadors for Christ said in a Facebook post.

The church shared photos of the inside of the Georgetown County church building, showing badly charred and smoke-damaged rooms.

“With such sadness and disbelief our ministry lost everything inside of the building, only leaving the building structure behind,” the church said.

“As much as our ministry gives back to the community someone decided to destroy what was built. As we try to rebuild what was damaged, we ask if anyone knows anything about who could have committed this crime, please contact the Andrews Police Department,” the church said.

The church is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest in the arson case.

No one was hurt in the fire, the church said.

“Although our congregation is praying for the person(s) involved, we also seek justice for the crimes committed!” the church said.

The Andrews Police Department said the FBI and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division are investigating the arson case, WCIV reports.

Town officials in Andrews did not respond to phone messages Tuesday.
