Shootout with South Carolina deputies leaves one man dead, sheriff says
Deputies responding to a domestic disturbance in South Carolina got into a shootout with a man and killed him, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.
“Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a domestic disturbance and were in the process of investigating the incident when officers exchanged gunfire with a man and he was killed,” the sheriff’s office said.
The shooting happened Tuesday night in Andrews, a rural community inland between Myrtle Beach and Charleston.
No police officers were hurt in the shooting, the sheriff’s office said.
The Georgetown County sheriff asked the State Law Enforcement Division to help investigate the incident, standard practice in cases involving police shootings.
