The Colonial Life Arena is planning a “historic” concert announcement Tuesday afternoon.

The arena staff is teasing the public by sharing the hashtag #GuessWhoCLA on social media.

Among the attendees at the news conference Tuesday are expected to be Gov. Nikki Haley and USC athletics director Ray Tanner.

Are they big fans of Paul McCartney?

Briefly, a story appeared on the Examiner.com site Monday revealing that the former Beatle was adding three dates – including Columbia – to his “Out There!” tour. The story was taken off the website in the afternoon.

McCartney last was in Columbia May 7, 1993, at Williams-Brice Stadium.

But the summer concert tour circuit is heavy with heavy hitters. The Rolling Stones. Lady Gaga. One Direction. Foo Fighters. Meghan Trainor.

Pope Francis? Pope John Paul II came here in 1987.

Weigh in yourself: Who do you want to see come to Columbia?

We’ll find out officially Tuesday.
