Argument over dog poop led to baseball bat attack, SC man told cops
An argument over a dog urinating and defecating in a neighbor’s lawn escalated to physical violence Friday, one man told police.
The incident happened at about 10:15 a.m., according to the Columbia Police Department incident report.
The 58-year-old complainant told law enforcement that he had gotten into an argument with a neighbor and her 56-year-old son about the complainant’s dog urinating and defecating on their lawn. He crossed the street to get away from the argument, according to the incident report.
At that point, the 58-year-old told police, the neighbor’s son followed him across the street and struck him in the face with a baseball bat.
“I did observe redness and swelling to (the 58-year-old’s) cheek but he declined EMS,” responding officer Jessica Nowlin wrote in the report.
The 56-year-old admitted there was an argument but said he didn’t hit the complainant with a bat, according to the incident report.
