This NC ‘waterside oasis’ is brimming with coastal charm — and HGTV is giving it away
A home nestled near the North Carolina coast is brimming with charm — and it could be yours.
The television channel HGTV said it’s giving away the “waterside oasis” as part of its annual Smart Home prize.
What’s inside the home?
The winner will receive a home full of furnishings and reminders of the nearby shore. Those touches include color palates that evoke the oceanfront and oars that decorate the walls of a dining area and bedroom, according to photos and videos shared Tuesday, April 5.
The three-bedroom retreat boasts more than 3,000 square feet of living space near Wilmington.
And it wouldn’t be a Smart Home without being equipped with contemporary features, such as automation voice commands and lighting that reportedly “allows you to set scenes.” There are also hacks that range from a pet area tucked under the stairs to a room for dropping off deliveries, video footage shows.
“Leaning into the city’s outdoor lifestyle, the HGTV Smart Home captures the essence of Wilmington with sophisticated coastal design and solutions from the kitchen to the outdoor garden that will enhance the lifestyle of the modern homeowner,” interior designer Tiffany Brooks said in a news release.
Outside, the home also has a porch and other features that help to form a “coastal Carolina paradise,” according to landscape designer Carmen Johnston.
“The backyard is an entertainer’s dream with a beautiful pool and pergola, a fire pit, as well as a back deck with multiple seating areas and an outdoor kitchen,” HGTV said in its news release about the house, located along the Cape Fear River in the Castle Hayne area.
How can you enter to win?
If you’re dreaming of living in the home, you have to wait a few days for your chance.
The home giveaway starts at 9 a.m. EDT on April 19 and runs until 5 p.m. EDT on June 10. Everyone who enters must be a legal U.S. resident, according to HGTV.
“Eligible fans can enter for a chance to win twice per day at HGTV.com, where they will also find full details and the official rules, as well as additional home features,” the television channel wrote in a news release. “Viewers can tune-in to the one-hour special HGTV Smart Home Special 2022 on Friday, April 22 at 7 p.m. ET on HGTV.”
In addition to the home, the winner gets to keep a “Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 and $100,000 from LendingTree,” HGTV said. In all, the prize is worth more than $1.2 million.
