Sleeping 10-year-old shot when bullets fired toward North Carolina home, police say

A sleeping child was shot when rounds were fired at a North Carolina home, officials said.

The Burlington Police Department said the 10-year-old was hit in the leg and taken to a medical center on Sunday, Nov. 21. The child had injuries that weren’t considered life threatening, WGHP reported.

Officers said the shooting happened on Shaw Street, roughly 25 miles east of Greensboro.

The 10-year-old was asleep when several gunshots struck the home, including a bullet that hit the child, police said in a news release. Officers were continuing to investigate as of Nov. 21.
