‘Look out for fish.’ North Carolina woman says flying catfish smashed her windshield
North Carolina drivers apparently need to be on the lookout for flying catfish when on the road.
Rhesa Walston, who lives in eastern North Carolina, said on Facebook that she was driving home from her mom’s house on Wednesday night when she hit a catfish.
But it wasn’t just lying on the side of the road. It fell from the sky, she says.
A bird flying above her dropped the fish onto her windshield while she was on River Road in Washington at about 5 p.m., she told McClatchy News.
She saw what looked like a hawk carrying a catfish and thought to herself that it was a big fish for the bird to be carrying, Walston told KSAZ/FOX10.
“Then it dropped it right on my windshield and smashed it,” Walston told KSAZ.
Her cousin and her cousin’s husband saw her as they were driving by and pulled over to help and search for the catfish, KSAZ reported.
“Thank you to Brandi Barrow and Stuart Barrow for coming to help me and finding the fish. . .because really who would believe me if I didn’t have the fish,” Walston wrote on Facebook.
She told McClatchy News that her 3-year-old was in the car with her but that no one was hurt.
“Look out for fish, cause you never know when you’re gonna see one,” Walston told WLOS.
Her Facebook post had been shared more than 133,000 times and more than 13,000 people had commented on it as of Sunday afternoon.
“I see a new State Farm commercial,” one person wrote.
“A new way to fish,” another wrote.
