AWOL Marine accused of murder is caught in Virginia after multi-state search, feds say

A U.S. Marine Corps deserter accused of murder was captured after a weeks-long manhunt, officials say.

Michael Alexander Brown, 22, was wanted after a shooting death earlier this month in Virginia, The News & Observer previously reported.

Officials say he killed his mother’s 54-year-old boyfriend Rodney Brown at a home near Roanoke.

The AWOL Marine was arrested early Wednesday, the U.S. Marshals Service told WDBJ and other news outlets.

Officials caught up with Brown at his mom’s Virginia house, reports ABC11, The News & Observer’s media partner.

Brown recently deserted his post at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, the newspaper previously reported.

During the search for Brown, officials had connected him to areas in North Carolina and South Carolina.
