Question | What do you think is the biggest issue in your district and how would you address it?

Answer | The biggest issue in District 103 is basically jobs and education. We’re working hard as part of the NESA [North Eastern Strategic Alliance] region that includes nine counties together to help us better make an appeal for bringing jobs to our area. We put $500,000 in the 2016-17 budget for port dredging in Georgetown. This could spin off some companies from Boeing and other major corporations. On the local level, we have fought for the minimum wage increase and some businesses have increased their hiring. We’ve worked to ensure adequate budgeting for rural schools, including our technical colleges and two universities in our area.

Question | What do you think is the biggest issue in your district and how would you address it?

Answer | The biggest issue in our district is economic development. I’ve developed a plan to bring in industries that will net to no less than 1,000 jobs in my first terms, thus forcing the improvements to roadway and port authority infrastructure while providing higher education training and good paying jobs.
