Myrtle Beach is getting a new logo. Here’s how much the process has cost

City of Myrtle Beach

The City of Myrtle Beach is in the process of looking at new logos to represent the city’s branding.

During a presentation on Tuesday morning in front of city council, Communications and Creative Services Department Director Meredith Denari said the city currently doesn’t have a logo, just an official seal. She later said over the phone that this was her third presentation to city council about new logo options for the city.

According to Denari, the city has paid the Florida-based Zimmerman Agency $78,045.78 to date for their work. She said it has encompassed more than just the logo design.

“So yes, we’re going to have a public input survey,” she said. “I anticipate it to be open for about a week, and I would expect that to come out and then next week or so.”

Denari said they will ask about the colors, new logo ideas and how it resonates with people in the survey.

Denari confirmed via email that the project went out for bid and the Zimmerman Agency was chosen. The designs were not drawn by a local artist.

The city’s seal, which is currently used on official signs and letterhead, has been around since the 1970s, she said.

“Just to reiterate, the seal stays,” Mayor Brenda Bethune said during Tuesday’s meeting. “This is more for branding.”
