Atlantic Beach has named a new town manager, ahead of Memorial Day Weekend and the official start to summer tourism.

Adrian Jones was officially hired for the new role during a town meeting on Tuesday night. Jones replaces interim town managers, including Orton Bellamy, who previously served as town manager and was fired last fall.

The Sun News called and left a message with the town asking for a copy of Jones’s resume and for an interview.

Bellamy’s home was searched by the Federal Bureau of Investigations in January, according to previous reporting. A police report from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said the search happened while investigating “a public corruption case involving threatening letters.”

It remains unclear if the alleged public corruption occurred during Bellamy’s time on the Horry County Council or while serving as town manager for Atlantic Beach.
