Updated: Nancy Mace says CCU is promoting ‘cross-dressing’ on their website. What we know

In a short video, Congresswoman and potential South Carolina Governor hopeful Nancy Mace said that Coastal Carolina University is promoting “cross-dressing” on its website.

The video was posted on Wednesday, and by Thursday morning already had 4,000 reactions and 125,000 views on Facebook.

“So a couple days ago I was on Coastal Carolina’s website, where they promote cross-dressing,” Mace says in the video. “Why is a South Carolina school promoting cross-dressing on their website? I sure would like to know.”

In response to Mace’s video, CCU sent the following statement to The Sun News at 8:45 p.m. Thursday:

“Coastal Carolina University was made aware of the link in question, which directed users to a third-party website,” the emailed statement said. “The link has since been removed from our website. We appreciate this matter being brought to our attention and are conducting a review of the site to ensure that third-party links are consistent with our site’s guidelines.”

After CCU removed the link from its website, Mace posted another short video on her social media in response.

“Guess what? Today, if you go to that page, it’s a 404 not found. They took it down without explanation,” she said in the second video. “I’m still going to demand answers from Coastal Carolina University. Why have they been promoting cross-dressing and other gender bending ideology on a South Carolina campus?”

The Sun News reached out to Mace’s team on Thursday morning for additional comment.
