North Myrtle Beach bans fires, grills on beaches
The city of North Myrtle Beach has banned fires and grills on its beaches, effective immediately.
North Myrtle Beach City Council voted Monday to prohibit all fires on its beaches.
The ordinance is based on a request from North Myrtle Beach Fire Chief Garry Spain.
The ban applies to any fire or open flame including propane-fired grills, cookers, or heated devices fueled by fire, on public beaches, public beach access areas, and street ends that are adjacent to the beach.
Violators are subject to a fine of up to $500, 30 days in jail, or both, according to the North Myrtle Beach ordinance.
