Driver accused of road rage crashes, killing 1, CA officials say. He pleads guilty
A driver chasing a motorcyclist in a “road rage incident” ran a red light and crashed into another driver, who later died, California prosecutors said.
Now, Andrew Michael Millner has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of Susan Young, the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office said in a July 1 Facebook post.
Attorney information for Millner was not immediately available.
Millner chased a motorcyclist in his Ford pickup truck on June 5, 2023, “in a road-rage incident,” prosecutors said.
Millner and the motorcyclist “reached speeds in excess of 100 MPH and failed to stop at multiple red lights as they drove from Redding to Anderson,” the Anderson Police Department said in a June 2023 Facebook post.
Millner drove through a red light and hit another car driven by Young, 61, prosecutors said.
Young was not a part of the “road rage incident and was merely passing through the intersection” on a green light when Millner’s truck hit her car, prosecutors said.
Young later died from her injuries at a hospital, police said.
“Road rage and reckless driving endangers everyone on the road and can lead to irreversible, tragic consequences,” prosecutors said.
Millner is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 11 and will be sentenced to 15 years to life in prison, prosecutors said.
Redding is about a 160-mile drive north from Sacramento.
