Student sexually assaulted by school psychologist, Colorado cops say
A 38-year-old school psychologist was arrested after being accused of sexually assaulting a student, Colorado police said.
On May 9, officers got a report that James Michael Chevrier, a psychologist at both Green Mountain High School and Bear Creek High School, sexually assaulted a female student, according to a May 14 Facebook post by Lakewood police.
He was serving as a psychologist at both schools during the time of his arrest, officers said.
On May 9, Chevrier was placed on administrative leave, and his employment was terminated on May 12, according to a statement from the Jefferson County Public Schools.
He was arrested on suspicion of “sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust – victim less than 15 and as part of a pattern of abuse”, soliciting for child prostitution, possession with intent to manufacture or distribute a controlled substance and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, police said.
From 2022 to 2023, Chevrier was a staff member at Evergreen High School and between 2021 and 2022, he worked in the Cherry Creek School District, officers said.
Investigators ask anyone with information to call 303-763-6800.
Lakewood is about a 10-mile drive southwest from Denver.
