Lottery player uses odometer as inspiration — and wins big in Maryland
A lottery player used her car’s odometer for inspiration – and won $100,000, officials in Maryland said.
The player, from Fort Washington, used the same five numbers for two Pick 5 tickets, the Maryland Lottery said in an April 3 news release.
The numbers were the final five digits on her car’s odometer, according to lottery officials.
When the player dropped by a 7-Eleven in Fort Washington to scan her tickets, “she got the shock of a lifetime,” lottery officials said.
“I was shook! I ran out of the store and went straight to my car to call my dad,” she said, according to the news release.
Each ticket was worth $50,000, meaning the two tickets combined brought her win to $100,000, lottery officials said.
The player said she’ll pay off her car and bills, plus share part of the windfall with her dad, according to lottery officials.
The win is “a dream and a blessing,” she’s quoted as saying.
Fort Washington is about a 60-mile drive southwest from Baltimore.
